Galera Cluster for MySQL
Existing Galera Cluster for MySQL versions continue to receive essential updates and security patches. While these release series will be maintained, all new features and capabilities will be available only in MariaDB Galera Cluster versions. For access to the latest innovations and to ensure future compatibility, migration to MariaDB Galera Cluster is recommended.
Please see the documentation for migration instructions and important end-of-life dates.
About Galera Cluster for MySQL
Following MariaDB Plc’s acquisition of Codership in May 2025, we are fully committed to providing a definitive and supported migration pathway for all MySQL Galera Cluster users.
Our engineering teams have rigorously validated the migration process, confirming that the transition to MariaDB Enterprise Cluster is straightforward and, for most scenarios, achievable with near-zero operational interruption.
Key Resources & EOL Timeline
We have released comprehensive documentation outlining two distinct, validated migration methodologies, including our near-zero-downtime In-Place Migration.
- Detailed Migration Documentation: Review the steps, pre-migration requirements, and structural differences (e.g., system tables, user account mapping) between the platforms.
- Important: We commit to maintaining current versions of MySQL Galera Cluster until September 30, 2026. This extended EOL timeline provides ample room for planning and execution.
