We are thrilled to announce the launch of MariaDB Enterprise Platform 2026, establishing MariaDB as the definitive database platform for building the next generation of intelligent, agentic applications.
This major release is purpose-built to eliminate architectural friction and accelerate innovation. It unifies transactional, analytical, and AI (vector) database engines into a single, high-performance platform. With the addition of native retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) pipelines and new AI agents, we are enabling developers to build sophisticated, data-driven applications faster than ever.
The Power of a Unified Platform
MariaDB Enterprise Platform is engineered for mission-critical operations. It brings together a suite of powerful, integrated components designed to work together seamlessly:
- MariaDB Enterprise Server: The core of the platform, handling diverse workloads and data models.
- MariaDB Enterprise Cluster & MaxScale: The combination that delivers true high availability, scalability and security.
- ColumnStore & MariaDB Exa: Integrated solutions for powerful real-time insights and extreme analytics.
- Vector Search, MCP Server & AI RAG: The components that connect your enterprise data directly to the world of GenAI.
- Enterprise Manager & Kubernetes Operator: The tools that simplify monitoring, management and deployment.
- MariaDB Cloud: The fully managed database-as-a-service (DBaaS), delivering the Enterprise Platform with ultimate deployment flexibility.
Let’s explore what’s new and how these components empower you to build the future.
Your All-in-One Platform for Agentic AI
Building intelligent, enterprise-grade AI applications requires more than just connecting to an LLM. You need to reliably ground models in your own data for accuracy and deliver exceptionally relevant results to your users. Traditional approaches create complexity with separate tools for orchestration and search. MariaDB Enterprise Platform 2026 solves this by integrating the entire AI pipeline.
- MariaDB AI RAG: This feature delivers “RAG-in-a-box,” eliminating the complexity of building and deploying RAG applications. Stop wrestling with separate vector databases, fragile ETL pipelines, and complex “glue code” for orchestration. Our solution consolidates the entire workflow – from data chunking and embedding to retrieval – into a single, secure platform. With a simple, developer-friendly REST API, you can connect any application to your data, ensuring security and accuracy without the need for deep GenAI expertise or separate AI orchestration frameworks.
- Integrated MCP Servers: The Model Context Protocol (MCP) Server enables AI Agents to seamlessly interact with MariaDB databases and other databases across the enterprise. It is engineered to provide a robust MCP interface specifically for MariaDB, allowing you to natively integrate vector search, LLMs, and standard SQL operations. Beyond simple searches, MCP Servers can launch serverless databases in the cloud and connect directly with our AI copilots. This allows AI agents to perform advanced data operations, powering the next generation of scalable, intelligent automation.
- AI Copilots: We are also introducing new AI copilots, which are ready-to-use agents inside the platform that empower agentic applications and humans to interact with data directly through natural language. Available via MariaDB Cloud, these preconfigured agents include:
- Developer Copilot: A Text-to-SQL agent that responds to natural language queries with insights on the data stored in your database.
- DBA Copilot: An agent that assists with DBA tasks like performance tuning or debugging errors, enhancing operational productivity.
- Achieve superior relevance with hybrid search: Deliver accurate results by combining the best of two search methods. Our vector embedded search now supports hybrid search, merging the keyword precision of full-text search with the semantic relevance of vector search. The platform then uses Reciprocal Rank Fusion (RRF) to intelligently rank and unify the results, ensuring your users find exactly what they’re looking for, faster.
This powerful combination allows you to build sophisticated AI applications that can both reason and act on accurate, real-time information. This unlocks a variety of practical applications, such as:
- Powering intelligent chatbots that answer customer support questions using your own knowledge bases.
- Enabling natural language queries for data analytics, allowing business users to ask questions of their databases in plain English.
- Creating powerful internal search tools for engineers to instantly query technical documentation.
- Assisting with compliance by allowing teams to find answers within complex policies and regulatory documents.
From Real Time to Extreme Analytics with MariaDB Exa and ColumnStore
MariaDB Enterprise Platform now delivers high-performance analytics, powered by our new strategic partnership with Exasol, alongside significant enhancements to MariaDB ColumnStore.
- MariaDB Exa: For the most demanding analytical workloads, this new offering is designed for multi-terabyte, complex analytics on operational data, delivering speeds well over 1,000 times faster than traditional OLTP engines and many times faster than leading analytical engines. It is seamlessly integrated with MariaDB’s transactional database and ensures you can get immediate insights on growing operational data without the complexity of moving it to a separate analytical solution, all while providing an excellent price and performance ratio.
- MariaDB ColumnStore: This release introduces significant enhancements, headlined by the new query accelerator, which processes transactional data directly to enable fast, parallel OLAP queries on your live business information. You can now also scale query throughput on demand faster than ever with new read-replica nodes that let you add compute resources without redistributing data. The entire experience is more streamlined, with new integrated cluster management tools, automated upgrade processes, and enhanced data import options that reduce operational overhead and increase reliability.
Enterprise-Grade Performance and Management
For DBAs, DevOps and CTOs, the core pillars of performance and manageability are nonnegotiable. This release delivers significant advancements, highlighted by a major performance boost in MariaDB Enterprise Server and the debut of our new, integrated management tool.
- Unprecedented performance gains: MariaDB Enterprise Server 11.8 delivers a staggering 2.5x performance gain over our previous 10.6 release, ensuring your mission-critical applications run faster and more efficiently than ever.
- Introducing MariaDB Enterprise Manager: To dramatically simplify operations, we are launching the new MariaDB Enterprise Manager. It provides a centralized, topology-based view of your entire database environment, reducing operational overhead with customizable dashboards and alerts.
- Advanced security & scalability: Our advanced database proxy, MariaDB MaxScale, is now enhanced with a new database firewall for granular query control, further hardening your data infrastructure and simplifying application scaling.
Ultimate Flexibility in the Cloud
MariaDB Enterprise Platform delivers a unified solution, and that extends to how you choose to deploy it. With MariaDB Cloud, we offer the operational freedom to choose the perfect model for every workload, delivering the full power of the Enterprise Platform as a fully managed service.
- We’re excited to announce that MariaDB Cloud Serverless is now GA. Designed for the dynamic needs of AI and dev/test workloads, it delivers instant provisioning and rapid autoscaling to handle unpredictable, spiky traffic. This ensures you only pay for the exact resources consumed, eliminating overprovisioning and dramatically cutting costs compared to always-on setups.
- For your core applications, MariaDB Cloud now fully supports the latest GA versions of MariaDB Enterprise Server and MariaDB MaxScale. This brings the highest level of transactional performance, advanced security features like the new database firewall, and seamless Oracle and MySQL compatibility into a fully managed service. We handle the operations, so your team can focus on innovation.
