MariaDB Analytics
Your choice of two engines to break down the barriers to insight
01Overview
Organizations that need to analyze information as it is created are held back by the divide between OLTP and OLAPsystems and byslow, error-prone ETL. MariaDB Enterprise Platform offers two analytics engines: MariaDB ColumnStore and MariaDB Exa.
02Key benefits
Ad hoc analytics at scale
MariaDB ColumnStore stores data in columns distributed across a cluster of servers and executes complex queries in parallel on petabytes of data. Deploy it as a standalone analytics solution or with MariaDB Enterprise Server as a query accelerator.
Ad hoc analytics at scale
ColumnStore accesses InnoDB data in near-real time and runs parallel OLAP queries straight from your transactional data. There is no separate pipeline to maintain and no delayed batch inserts to analyze live data.
Real-time analytics with Exa
MariaDB Exa unites MariaDB with Exasol’s in-memory engine. Thousands of users can analyze large amounts of data at once, and Exa’s Virtual Schema framework provides live access to MariaDB without separate ETL or staging areas, lowering TCO.
Neither workload slows the other
MariaDB continues to deliver transactional throughput while the analytics engine handles complex analytical queries. MariaDB Exa runs on additional servers, so heavy analytical load is offloaded from your MariaDB Enterprise Servers.
10x to 1,000x faster queries withMariaDBExa’smassively parallel, in-memory processing, as stated by MariaDB

04How it works
ColumnStore is ideal for intermittent, ad hoc analytic queries and is included in MariaDB Enterprise Platform. MariaDB Exa suits environments where users regularly submit complex analytical queries or load is continuously heavy. In the Exa architecture, write requests go to the MariaDB servers, binlog data is processed through CDC and loaded into the Exasol servers, and read requests go to MariaDB for transactional queries and to Exasol for analytical queries.
