MariaDB started as a MySQL fork and uses the same wire protocol and SQL dialect, making the migration from MySQL to MariaDB simple and straightforward. Start the migration process with these technical resources or contact us for assistance.

MySQL 5.7 became EOL in October 2023. Users must therefore decide whether to remain with MySQL 8.0 and potentially transition to Oracle products like Oracle Cloud and Heatwave, or explore other open source database options for greater flexibility.

Due to the inability to downgrade from MySQL 8 to 5.7, users who are not satisfied with the current version must choose a different open source database.
